There are two routes to reach the fort. As the fort is situated in a remote place it is advisable to know the timetable of State Transport (ST) buses that ply from Nashik to Satane & Nashik to Chandvad & Chandvad to Satane.
Route 1: Get down at Kheldari village on Nashik-Satane road via Kheldari and reach Rajdeherwadi. From here you need to cross a small lake towards Indrai fort where you can find small colony. The trek starts here. Turn left and after some twist and turn your will come below a small hill off the left side of the fort. Turn right from here and keeping the hill on to your right, keep walking. After some time you will reach a small Maruti or Hanuman temple. Turn right and keep ascending further til you reach the rock carved steps. Going up the stairs you reach to the top.
Route 2: Reach Chandwad from Nashik. From here proceed towards Mumbai-Agra road, keeping the fort on to your right. The road goes westwards and bifurcates at Vadbare. It continues to Rajdeherwadi via Riodebri and Chinchbari. Just ahead of Chinchbari you will see the Indrai at your left. Keep looking for the dirt track which connects you to the Maruti temple, the same as in Route 1. From Vadbare, an open walk and some steep climbing will take you to the well fortified entrance of the fort. So there you are!
| | Best time to visit : June to March | About :
It is also called as Indragiri fort. The fort top is large. This for is about four miles north-west of Chandor on the Roura pass, is a small tower which was dismantled by Captain Mackintosh in 1818. The approach is difficult. The only objects of interest on the hill are some caves and sculptures, and a Persian inscription below the foot of the steps leading to the rock. In the 1818 campaign, the burning of the neighbouring fort of Rajdhair so impressed the. garrison that they abandoned Indrai without a struggle.
| Sightseeing :
Near the entrance of the fort you will find some inscription in Farsi language. Once you are in the fort you will find large plateau. Keep walking to the west of the fort for 10-15 minutes. To left there is small hillock. To the north of this hillock (Rajdeher fort side) you will find some carved caves and water tanks.
